The Move to Kronos “Flash Free” is Underway – Is Your Organization Ready?
Since Adobe’s announcement regarding the termination of support for Flash by the end of 2020, many major technology players and most browsers have begun to transition to HTML5. This year, Microsoft will disable Flash by default in both Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer.
Kronos is no exception in the move to the new standard. The company’s work to remove Flash components from its Workforce Central platform v8.1 are underway: v8.1.3 made its debut in December 2018, which represented Phase I of the move to Flash-free Workforce Central. 2019 will mark the completion of Phase II. Most organizations using v8.1.3 will be Flash free; clients using the staffing widget and process manager requests will be Flash free by end of 2019.
Kronos has stated that it has no plans to remove Flash from previous Workforce Central versions (6.2, 6.3, 7.0, and 8.0). This results in two viable options for clients using Workforce Central versions affected by this change:
Option 1: Upgrade to Flash-free WFC v.8.1.3
Option 2: Transition to Kronos Workforce Dimensions
With the above in mind, both Kronos and Workforce Insight are strongly recommending that clients quickly begin planning their approach to upgrading Kronos systems currently in place to prepare for the critical changes coming.
With these changes imminent, has your organization considered the impact to employees and your investments in Kronos technology?
“The transition away from Flash and its impact on Kronos systems and employees provides the perfect time to take a fresh look at your organization’s overall Kronos technology roadmap,” says Kyle Page, who oversees Workforce Insight’s Kronos Practice.
“All too often our clients discover that their original configuration no longer aligns with their changing business needs. With the right guidance, customers can evaluate how to leverage the full power and functionality of Kronos today and in in the future – with minimal disruption.”
