CHALLENGE

This large international retailer was seeking to improve scheduling accuracy and ensure that stores were staffed appropriately relative to forecasted customer volume.

Many of the organization’s stores were kiosks in mall sites, staffed by 1 to 2 associates at a time -making store coverage and staff planning critical to avoid unscheduled overtime. The organization was recovering from a previously failed attempt at deploying optimized scheduling, and sought a more intelligent approach to successfully replace its rudimentary paper-based system. The retailer had invested in Kronos Analytics but had not recognized the value it could deliver in providing insight and visibility to drive successful adoption of optimized scheduling.

PRE-SCHEDULE DASHBOARD

The dashboard was deployed to help District and Regional Managers more effectively evaluate the quality of the data prior to the schedule period in order to collaborate with store managers early in the process, yielding higher quality schedules on the front end.

CUSTOM DASHBOARDS TO MONITOR OPTIMIZED SCHEDULING

Several analytical dashboards were developed to help the retailer perform an empirical analysis of how well the optimized scheduling solution was being adopted in the field. The visibility this provided helped the retailer quickly spot issues relatiedto store managers not setting up the system properly, lack of compliance, schedules being manipulated after creation, and employee availability or store hours not being updated, and helped avoid output of generic schedules that were not truly optimized.
