Kronos Healthcare Forum brings together healthcare executives and organizational leaders in HR, Finance, Nursing, Operations and IT from hospitals and provider organizations across the country for a one-day, invitation-only thought leadership and networking event focused on common workforce-related challenges, perspectives on emerging trends, and the latest best practices. The theme of this year’s Kronos Healthcare Forum is “Population Health – The Future of the Workforce.”

As nursing acuity has shifted over the past decade, a new way of approaching staffing models has emerged to improve staff alignment and the patient experience, while preparing the organization for more sustainable cost control. This session explores the evolution of nursing acuity and how innovation is promoting advanced approaches to acuity-based care, impacting quality and financial outcomes.

  • Examine how acuity-based nursing models are changing the traditional approach to medicine and cost control
  • Review organizations who have made the shift from using volume-based staffing grids to leveraging historical acuity data to impact clinical and financial outcomes

Bio: Shelley Simkins, MSN, MBA, is VP of Operational Excellence with Workforce Insight, and has more than 20 years of both nursing and inpatient/outpatient operational leadership experience. She specializes in workforce management for healthcare systems, instituting LEAN and Six Sigma methodologies to help leading hospitals and healthcare organizations drive improved operational efficiencies and optimize labor performance while meeting goals for patient care, quality and staff satisfaction.
