Don Giffels

Don Giffels is the Healthcare Services Managing Partner for Workforce Insight, where he provides oversight and development of healthcare consulting initiatives and alliance partnerships. Don is responsible for growth and expansion of the firm’s Healthcare practice, with dedicated focus on transforming labor productivity programs for some of the nation’s largest hospitals and healthcare systems. He has been recognized for his role in helping highly dispersed organizations leverage best practice adoption of workforce management systems and processes to deliver substantial reductions in labor expense while maximizing quality of care.
Don works closely with the firm’s Healthcare Workforce Management Consultants and Strategists in delivering a more holistic approach to labor productivity, with leading edge models that address hospital labor cost control, patient safety and staff retention. His oversight has led to the growth of a Healthcare Services Group that includes labor analytics experts with deep expertise in the deployment of complex, hospital labor productivity programs. This specialized group includes former hospital finance, HR and technology leaders with expertise in guiding best practice, enterprise-level use of benchmarking, analytics, staffing/scheduling, timekeeping and absence management.
Don has enjoyed a career that spans nearly two decades in the Workforce Management space distinguished by integrity and leadership in delivering solutions that improve business performance. He has held strategic roles advising hospitals and health systems, guiding the selection, implementation and optimization of labor technology initiatives. Don has also been instrumental in driving recognition for the firm’s Healthcare Labor Cost Control Benchmarking program, which compares key performance indicators (KPIs) against best practice benchmarks to identify labor cost reduction strategies that benefit the healthcare industry as a whole.
Don earned a bachelors degree in finance and business administration from Wayne State University in Michigan. He resides in Colorado with his wife and twin daughters.
